Nansha district, an area in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, boasting the largest port area in South China, has further strengthened its economic cooperation with Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations during the ongoing 19th China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning, Guangxi.

Guangzhou Port Group and Guangxi Beibu Gulf Investment Group Co Ltd reached an agreement about together building express shipping services between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Beibu Gulf to enhance regional connectivity. The two sides signed an agreement on Friday on the sidelines of the 19th China-ASEAN Expo.

The express shipping service will give full play to the advantages of the port resources and the capacity in the Beibu Gulf and the GBA, and provide new convenient way of transportation for the import and export of goods.

Guangxi's Beibu Gulf can connect with Western China and reach ports in ASEAN member states, while Nansha Port is located in the heart of the Pearl River Delta. The cooperation is expected to help customers of the two regions to lower their logistics costs.

"Nansha Port and the city clusters in the Beibu Gulf are located near each other. The two regions will strengthen cooperation in advanced manufacturing and modern service industry by leveraging the opportunities brought by the launch of express shipping service," said Xie Xiaohui, director of the Bureau of Commerce of Nansha district.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Commerce of Nansha district also signed Memorandum of Understanding on economic and trade cooperation with branched chamber of commerce organizations of Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and Laos to strengthen cooperation.

Those organizations have helped bridge communications for local enterprises to enter the China market and Chinese enterprises to go global, especially after the proposal of the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013.
