Sept 21: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 166 new cases of confirmed infections (43 imported cases, 12 in Guangdong province, 8 in Shanghai municipality, 8 in Fujian province, 7 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Yunnan province and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 5 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 3 in Guangdong province and 2 in Sichuan province; 123 indigenous cases, 57 in Guizhou province, 28 in Sichuan province, 13 in Tibet autonomous region, 9 in Heilongjiang province, 5 in Yunnan province, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Hainan province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Henan province, including 18 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 9 in Guizhou province, 6 in Sichuan province, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Yunnan province), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Sept 20, 327 patients were released from hospital after being cured (49 imported cases; 278 indigenous cases, 86 in Sichuan province, 64 in Hainan province, 45 in Guangdong province, 31 in Tibet autonomous region, 9 in Shandong province, 7 in Liaoning province, 6 in Shaanxi province, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Jilin province, 4 in Qinghai province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Henan province, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 2 in Guizhou province, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Yunnan province). 23,767 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Sept 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 23,527 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 22,956 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 571 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 20, the National Health Commission had received reports of 248,644 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 240,121 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 3,297 confirmed cases (including 42 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 5,851,059 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 157,786 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 581 new asymptomatic cases (96 imported cases; 485 indigenous cases, 155 in Tibet autonomous region, 131 in Guizhou province, 102 in Heilongjiang province, 27 in Sichuan province, 11 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 10 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 9 in Hubei province, 8 in Tianjin municipality, 8 in Henan province, 5 in Gansu province, 5 in Qinghai province, 4 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Jiangxi province and 1 in Shaanxi province).

On Sept 20, 2,048 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (102 imported cases; 1,946 indigenous cases, 1,129 in Tibet autonomous region, 213 in Heilongjiang province, 83 in Liaoning province, 71 in Jiangxi province, 68 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 67 in Sichuan province, 59 in Guizhou province, 46 in Shandong province, 42 in Hainan province, 31 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 20 in Hubei province, 19 in Guangdong province, 16 in Shaanxi province, 14 in Jilin province, 14 in Henan province, 12 in Tianjin municipality, 11 in Gansu province, 11 in Qinghai province, 9 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Shanxi province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Anhui province, 2 in Fujian province and 1 in Hebei province). 23 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 5 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Sept 20, 15,528 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 766 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 20, 6,452,469 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 408,137 in Hong Kong (9,908 had died and 81,491 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 793 in Macao (6 had died and 787 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 6,043,539 in Taiwan (10,604 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
