Jin Xing

Born in Shenyang, Liaoning province, in 1967, Jin Xing is an influential figure in Chinese modern dance and a transgender female artist. With one of the highest artistic achievements and international reputations in China, Jin won the first prize in the junior group of the first Taoli Cup in 1985, which is known as the "Oscar of the Chinese Dance sector", and created the men's pointe dance. In 1991, her work The Half Dream won the best choreography award at the American Dance Festival. Jin was awarded an honorary doctorate in dance arts from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2014.
