Sept 18: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 154 new cases of confirmed infections (48 imported cases, 16 in Shanghai municipality, 10 in Fujian province, 7 in Guangdong province, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Jiangsu province, 3 in Yunnan province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region; 106 indigenous cases, 50 in Guizhou province, 30 in Sichuan province, 6 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 6 in Tibet autonomous region, 5 in Hainan province, 3 in Fujian province, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, including 14 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 6 in Guizhou province, 5 in Sichuan province, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Sept 17, 377 patients were released from hospital after being cured (62 imported cases; 315 indigenous cases, 111 in Sichuan province, 54 in Tibet autonomous region, 37 in Guangdong province, 27 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 24 in Hainan province, 11 in Shandong province, 10 in Liaoning province, 8 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 4 in Henan province, 4 in Shaanxi province, 3 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Chongqing municipality, 3 in Qinghai province, 2 in Jilin province, 2 in Heilongjiang province, 2 in Guizhou province, 2 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Yunnan province). 24,459 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Sept 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 23,381 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 22,809 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 572 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 17, the National Health Commission had received reports of 248,179 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 239,088 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 3,865 confirmed cases (including 40 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 5,815,279 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 189,744 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 1,035 new asymptomatic cases (105 imported cases; 930 indigenous cases, 662 in Guizhou province, 82 in Sichuan province, 39 in Tibet autonomous region, 28 in Tianjin municipality, 28 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 24 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 12 in Shandong province, 12 in Hubei province, 9 in Gansu province, 6 in Hainan province, 6 in Yunnan province, 5 in Jiangxi province, 4 in Heilongjiang province, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Henan province, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 2 in Shaanxi province, 2 in Qinghai province, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Guangdong province).

On Sept 17, 1,403 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (95 imported cases; 1,308 indigenous cases, 623 in Tibet autonomous region, 88 in Heilongjiang province, 75 in Liaoning province, 75 in Sichuan province, 71 in Shandong province, 48 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 38 in Hainan province, 37 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 35 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 35 in Qinghai province, 34 in Tianjin municipality, 23 in Gansu province, 21 in Jiangxi province, 21 in Henan province, 21 in Guangdong province, 15 in Jilin province, 14 in Hebei province, 14 in Hubei province, 6 in Shaanxi province, 5 in Guizhou province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Anhui province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Chongqing municipality). 17 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 3 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Sept 17, 18,480 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 724 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 17, 6,337,741 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 406,021 in Hong Kong (9,868 had died and 80,579 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 793 in Macao (6 had died and 787 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 5,930,927 in Taiwan (10,509 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
