Sept 17: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 140 new cases of confirmed infections (64 imported cases, 15 in Guangdong province, 12 in Fujian province, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Beijing municipality, 5 in Yunnan province, 3 in Heilongjiang province, 3 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Chongqing municipality, including 8 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 4 in Guangdong province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Sichuan province; 76 indigenous cases, 34 in Sichuan province, 10 in Tibet autonomous region, 8 in Guizhou province, 5 in Tianjin municipality, 4 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Hainan province, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Yunnan province, 1 in Shaanxi province and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, including 17 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 15 in Sichuan province, 1 in Tibet autonomous region and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Sept 16, 298 patients were released from hospital after being cured (43 imported cases; 255 indigenous cases, 74 in Sichuan province, 52 in Hainan province, 39 in Guangdong province, 25 in Tibet autonomous region, 18 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 13 in Heilongjiang province, 6 in Tianjin municipality, 5 in Shandong province, 3 in Guizhou province, 3 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Shanxi province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Fujian province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Henan province, 1 in Hunan province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Shaanxi province and 1 in Qinghai province). 32,242 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 3.

As of 24:00 on Sept 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 23,333 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 22,747 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 586 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 16, the National Health Commission had received reports of 248,025 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 238,711 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 4,088 confirmed cases (including 38 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 5,803,176 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 202,221 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 578 new asymptomatic cases (73 imported cases; 505 indigenous cases, 146 in Guizhou province, 87 in Sichuan province, 56 in Tibet autonomous region, 45 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 40 in Tianjin municipality, 30 in Shandong province, 25 in Hubei province, 23 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 14 in Gansu province, 9 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 9 in Jiangxi province, 7 in Shaanxi province, 3 in Heilongjiang province, 3 in Yunnan province, 2 in Hebei province, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Qinghai province).

On Sept 16, 1,137 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (68 imported cases; 1,069 indigenous cases, 379 in Tibet autonomous region, 135 in Heilongjiang province, 64 in Liaoning province, 56 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 53 in Shandong province, 53 in Qinghai province, 51 in Hainan province, 47 in Sichuan province, 31 in Henan province, 29 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 29 in Hubei province, 28 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 25 in Guangdong province, 19 in Gansu province, 17 in Hebei province, 16 in Guizhou province, 11 in Tianjin municipality, 10 in Jilin province, 9 in Jiangxi province, 4 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Yunnan province). 25 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 8 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Sept 16, 18,865 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 717 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 16, 6,297,209 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 405,061 in Hong Kong (9,852 had died and 80,219 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 793 in Macao (6 had died and 787 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 5,891,355 in Taiwan (10,469 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
