Sept 16: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 161 new cases of confirmed infections (59 imported cases, 12 in Shanghai municipality, 12 in Fujian province, 10 in Heilongjiang province, 10 in Guangdong province, 3 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Sichuan province, 3 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Yunnan province, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Sichuan province; 102 indigenous cases, 43 in Sichuan province, 10 in Guizhou province, 10 in Tibet autonomous region, 9 in Tianjin municipality, 5 in Guangdong province, 4 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Shaanxi province, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Fujian province, 3 in Chongqing municipality, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Hunan province, 1 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Yunnan province and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, including 20 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 18 in Sichuan province, 1 in Shaanxi province and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Sept 15, 799 patients were released from hospital after being cured (44 imported cases; 755 indigenous cases, 340 in Hainan province, 219 in Sichuan province, 84 in Tibet autonomous region, 49 in Guangdong province, 11 in Liaoning province, 10 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 5 in Shandong province, 5 in Qinghai province, 4 in Shaanxi province, 4 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 3 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Hunan province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Hebei province, 2 in Jilin province, 2 in Heilongjiang province, 2 in Henan province, 2 in Guizhou province, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Yunnan province). 31,362 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Sept 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 23,269 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 22,704 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 565 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 15, the National Health Commission had received reports of 247,885 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 238,413 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 4,246 confirmed cases (including 35 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 5,787,574 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 218,878 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 825 new asymptomatic cases (79 imported cases; 746 indigenous cases, 260 in Guizhou province, 132 in Sichuan province, 108 in Tibet autonomous region, 51 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 38 in Jiangxi province, 30 in Hubei province, 27 in Tianjin municipality, 23 in Gansu province, 23 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 20 in Shandong province, 8 in Heilongjiang province, 5 in Hebei province, 4 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 4 in Yunnan province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Henan province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Anhui province, 1 in Guangdong province, 1 in Hainan province, 1 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Shaanxi province and 1 in Qinghai province).

On Sept 15, 2,262 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (59 imported cases; 2,203 indigenous cases, 916 in Tibet autonomous region, 517 in Hainan province, 168 in Heilongjiang province, 103 in Sichuan province, 69 in Liaoning province, 64 in Qinghai province, 49 in Gansu province, 47 in Guizhou province, 41 in Henan province, 38 in Shandong province, 37 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 26 in Hubei province, 23 in Guangdong province, 21 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 16 in Tianjin municipality, 12 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 12 in Jiangxi province, 12 in Shaanxi province, 11 in Jilin province, 9 in Hebei province, 3 in Jiangsu province, 3 in Anhui province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Chongqing municipality). 23 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 3 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Sept 15, 19,449 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 720 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 15, 6,254,594 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 404,053 in Hong Kong (9,836 had died and 79,828 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 793 in Macao (6 had died and 787 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 5,849,748 in Taiwan (10,423 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
