The first "China Epitome – Guizhou in 10 Years" press conference was recently held in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province. The event introduced the development and changes of Guiyang and Guian New Area since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (2012).
In the past 10 years, the GDP of Guiyang has nearly doubled to 471.1 billion yuan ($68.98 billion). Its average annual growth rate is 9.4 percent, which has been at the forefront of provincial capital cities for the past 10 years. The economy is now entering its high-quality development stage.
Industry in Guiyang has been continuously transformed and upgraded. A group of leading projects have been put into production or landing, the average annual increase among industries above a designated size rose by 10.2 percent, and the added value of the industry was twice as much as 10 years ago.
A total of 683,400 mu (45,560 hectares) of high-standard farmland has been established, and food reserves are secure. Guiyang, the provincial capital, and Guian in the new era are responsible for Guizhou's "golden decade".
In particular, Guiyang and Guian's digital economy has been leading the country for many years, ranking among the eight major integration computing power network national hub node cities in the country and becoming one of the regions with the largest number of large-scale data centers in the world. From January to June this year, Guiyang and Guian's software and information technology service industry achieved revenue of 31.83 billion yuan, an increase of 111.8 percent year-on-year.
The two regions also achieved strong results in attracting talent, promoting tourism development, improving transportation hubs, creating a good business environment, ecological sustainable development, and rural vitalization.
