"The 20-story, 80-meter-tall Binhai Health Station is currently one of the highest steel modular buildings in China. Construction is expected to be completed in 300 days, which will make it one of the fastest-built high-rise buildings in the country," Zhao noted.

Compared to low-rise MiC buildings that have a small size but occupy a large area of land, high-rise MiC buildings have multiple floors and occupy a small area of land. Therefore, high-rise MiC buildings can better reduce the waste of land area. For ordinary citizens, that MiC buildings can be standardized and mass-produced is of strategic significance for realizing the vision that "houses are for living in, not for speculation", according to Zhao.

At the launch event, Zhao introduced the main advantages of the MiC method with three representative projects.

Compared with conventional construction methods, the MiC method can significantly shorten construction time. A representative project for the C series is the Zhangkengjing project in Longhua district in the city of Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province. It's an affordable housing project for professionals and consists of five 28-story, 90-meter-tall buildings.

"It's one of the first high-rise residential projects in China built using a concrete MiC solution. It's also one of the highest concrete MiC buildings in the country," Zhao said. "Measuring 158,000 square meters in floor area, the project is expected to be completed in 365 days. This will make it one of China's fastest-built high-rise concrete building projects."

The Zhangkengjing project has realized the mass production of standardized three-dimensional molds, and the decoration is also completed in the factory. Templates and supports are unnecessary on the construction site. It's also one of the first MiC projects in the country to realize digital delivery throughout its entire life cycle, according to Zhao.

Zhao said the MiC method can substantially reduce the carbon dioxide emitted during the construction process.
