The Yiyang-Changsha section of the Chongqing-Xiamen high-speed railway began operating on Tuesday.
With this section, all 14 cities and prefectures in Hunan province are now linked with high-speed rail. The province is the eighth in the country to provide high-speed rail services in all its cities.
The Yiyang-Changsha section runs 63 kilometers, with a designated speed of 350 km/h. Travel time between Yiyang and Changsha will be shortened from 70 minutes to 31 minutes.
The Chongqing-Xiamen railway runs from Chongqing through Hunan, Jiangxi and Fujian provinces. It is a key link in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the economic zone west of the Taiwan Straits.
