Zhao Sujing, member of the leading Party members' group and vice-chairman of China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF), attended the opening ceremony of the 12th Yunnan Disabled Games and the 6th Special Olympic Games and delivered a speech, on Sept 4.
Since 2012, the Southwest China's Yunnan province has made great progress in the cause of the people with disabilities, and has made remarkable achievements in their sports development, said Zhao. The games will certainly demonstrate the spirit of athletes who face difficulties and challenges despite the difficulties, and also help drive the rehabilitation and fitness of the disabled.
During the event, Zhao paid a visit to the representatives of athletes and coaches with disabilities, and encouraged them to strive for good results and be strong in life. Zhao watched a swimming competition and presented awards to the winning athletes.
In his stay in Yunnan, Zhao exchanged views on the work of the people with disabilities with Zeng Yan, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee, Luo Hongbo, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Yunnan Provincial People's Congress, He Lianghui, vice-governor of Yunnan provincial government, and Li Xuelin, vice-chairman of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
She conducted a field visit to local villages and community to convey the work of the disabled. She learned about the building and development of grass-roots disabled persons' federation organizations, general elections, and the handling of disabled persons' certificates.
Heads of the liaison department and sports department of the CDPF, and the Yunnan provincial and local disabled persons' federations participated in the activities.
