BEIJING - A seminar on the development of Taiwan enterprises on the Chinese mainland over the past decade was held in Beijing on Monday.
Liu Jieyi, head of both the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, attended the event, which was organized by the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland (ATIEM).
Liu was joined by around 30 representatives of Taiwan businesspeople on the mainland, including the ATIEM Chairman Lee Cheng-hung. They looked back on the notable progress made by the mainland, and recounted the development achieved by the vast number of Taiwan businesspeople and enterprises here over the past 10 years.
The representatives shared the view that, with rapid economic growth and the sound execution of relevant policies, the mainland has offered enormous opportunities and a good environment for Taiwan businesspeople and enterprises. In light of the bright prospects and broad development space on the mainland, they will deepen their roots here and achieve new heights.
Citing the new achievements and contributions made by Taiwan businesspeople and enterprises, as well as new opportunities in store for them, Liu expressed his hope that Taiwan businesspeople on the mainland will uphold the greater national interest, resolutely oppose separatists seeking "Taiwan independence" and external interference, and dedicate themselves to the righteous cause of advancing the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and peaceful national reunification.
