China CDC holds meeting on breastfeeding promotion

The National Center for Women and Children's Health of the China CDC held an experience exchange meeting on infant feeding and breastfeeding projects both online and offline on Aug 25.

Zhang Xueqing, Party secretary of the National Center for Women and Children's Health, acknowledged the importance of the breastfeeding promotion.

Ma Li, deputy director of the children's health division at the Department of Maternal and Child Health of the National Health Commission, and Lai Jianqiang, deputy director of the National Institute for Nutrition and Health of the China CDC, explained the Action Plan for Breastfeeding Promotion (2021-25) and the Guidance on Chinese infant and young child feeding (2022) respectively.

Zhang Yue, deputy director of the childcare department of the National Center for Women and Children's Health of the China CDC, briefed about the annual work progress of the breastfeeding consultation project.

Renowned experts gave lectures on such topics as breastfeeding's impact on intestinal microecology and immunity, breastfeeding strategies for mothers suffering from diseases that can be transferred from mother to child, children's neurodevelopment and social factors.
