With the resurgence of COVID-19 cases in Dalian, Liaoning province, medical workers in the city are standing fast at their posts to block the virus.

Since Aug 20, 392 medical workers were assigned to the municipal public health clinic, which is also a COVID-19 treatment center in Liaoning province. Another 160 medical workers have been assigned to quarantine hospitals and 297 to quarantine hotels, according to local health authorities.

Infections have been rising in Dalian since Aug 28, and the city's COVID-19 prevention and control headquarters announced restrictive measures, including a work-at-home order and calls to avoid unnecessary trips to curb the spread of the virus in downtown districts.

Since then, the number of emergency calls to the city's emergency center has increased from less than 1,000 to more than 3,000.

To ensure the rescue of critically ill patients during the period, major hospitals have established emergency plans. Most medical institutions in Dalian have opened online services.

On Monday, Dalian reported two confirmed COVID-19 cases and 85 asymptomatic carriers, the city's COVID-19 prevention and control headquarters said on Tuesday. It said the situation is stable and improving.
