Greece hopes for deeper cooperation with Zhuhai

A delegation led by Martinos Mandalidis, Greece's ambassador to China, visited Zhuhai on Sept 2, making tours around Zhuhai 4DAGE and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, as well as planting friendship trees at Haibin Park.

Tong Man, head of the Zhuhai Foreign Affairs Office, met with the delegation and gave a brief overview on the city's basic socio-economic development. 

Tong said that Zhuhai will make full use of opportunities brought by the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Greece to deepen Zhuhai-Greece cooperation in forming friendship-city ties.

The ambassador spoke highly of the achievements Zhuhai has made in recent years. He noted that Zhuhai and Greece are both important parts of the Maritime Silk Road, and that the sci-tech innovation, biomedicine, and maritime economy clusters under construction in Zhuhai are also major development focuses for Greece.

Mandalidis said that Zhuhai enjoys outstanding industrial advantages and a strong investment environment, adding that Greece will further find more common areas for cooperation with Zhuhai to enhance communication and achieve mutually beneficial results. 

The year 2022 also marks the Greece-China Cultural and Tourism Year, according to the ambassador. Zhuhai is a major city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and pioneer in reform and opening-up. Greece is looking forward to having deeper cooperation with Zhuhai in different fields, he said.
