A multilingual book series Key Words to Understand China: On Eco-Civilization, co-created by China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, and China Academy of Translation, and published by New World Press, was launched at China International Fair for Trade in Services 2022 in Beijing on Sept 1.

Gao Anming, editor-in-chief of China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, said in a speech at the launch ceremony that eco-civilization is a historical trend of the development of human civilization, and an integral component to promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind. Scholars or common readers, in China or outside, all want to learn about China through authoritative channels — about Chinese thoughts and ideas, and China's policies and developmental path, he said, and this book series offers people a choice.

Yang Ping, deputy director of Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, said that by reading these books, readers from home and abroad can learn about the important ideas, projects, systems and examples about the construction of China's eco-civilization in a new era, the ideas about Chinese people's pursuits of the harmonious coexistence of human and nature, the policies and implementation concerning low-carbon development, and relevant Chinese approaches.

Apart from eco-civilization, so far the New World Press has published series on other themes, such as the Belt and Road Initiative, the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, targeted poverty elimination, the governance of the country and so on, said Li Chunkai, president of the press.

The eco-civilization series covers 85 keywords concerning this theme. Now versions in 14 languages of the new series — English, French, Russian, Spanish, Arabic, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Italian, Korean, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Turkish and Kazakh — are available.
