On Aug 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 368 new cases of confirmed infections (61 imported cases, 13 in Guangdong province, 10 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 10 in Fujian province, 7 in Tianjin municipality, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Yunnan province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Jilin province, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 5 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Sichuan province; 307 indigenous cases, 132 in Sichuan province, 53 in Tibet autonomous region, 40 in Guangdong province, 24 in Hainan province, 9 in Liaoning province, 9 in Heilongjiang province, 8 in Chongqing municipality, 5 in Tianjin municipality, 5 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 4 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 4 in Shandong province, 4 in Shaanxi province, 4 in Qinghai province, 3 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Henan province, 1 in Hubei province and 1 in Gansu province, including 28 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 9 in Hainan province, 6 in Sichuan province, 5 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Tibet autonomous region, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Shaanxi province and 1 in Qinghai province), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Aug 31, 405 patients were released from hospital after being cured (43 imported cases; 362 indigenous cases, 261 in Hainan province, 17 in Shaanxi province, 15 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 14 in Guangdong province, 12 in Chongqing municipality, 11 in Tibet autonomous region, 8 in Sichuan province, 7 in Zhejiang province, 4 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Shanxi province, 3 in Henan province, 2 in Qinghai province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Jiangxi province and 1 in Hunan province). 23,648 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 3.

As of 24:00 on Aug 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 22,489 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 21,970 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 519 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 31, the National Health Commission had received reports of 243,449 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 231,925 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 6,298 confirmed cases (including 34 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 5,345,853 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 249,718 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 1,689 new asymptomatic cases (93 imported cases; 1,596 indigenous cases, 621 in Tibet autonomous region, 212 in Qinghai province, 130 in Heilongjiang province, 109 in Liaoning province, 89 in Sichuan province, 67 in Hainan province, 59 in Henan province, 56 in Gansu province, 45 in Hebei province, 34 in Guangdong province, 33 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 31 in Hubei province, 29 in Tianjin municipality, 19 in Jiangxi province, 19 in Shandong province, 16 in Shaanxi province, 9 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 8 in Chongqing municipality, 5 in Jiangsu province, 4 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and 1 in Zhejiang province).

On Aug 31, 780 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (66 imported cases; 714 indigenous cases, 361 in Hainan province, 165 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 47 in Tibet autonomous region, 24 in Jiangxi province, 20 in Qinghai province, 17 in Hubei province, 16 in Zhejiang province, 11 in Shaanxi province, 8 in Chongqing municipality, 8 in Sichuan province, 7 in Henan province, 7 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 6 in Hebei province, 6 in Gansu province, 4 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Yunnan province). 33 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 5 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 31, 23,663 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 757 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 31, 5,694,611 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 385,789 in Hong Kong (9,690 had died and 74,764 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 793 in Macao (6 had died and 785 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 5,308,029 in Taiwan (9,914 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
