Aug 31: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 392 new cases of confirmed infections (43 imported cases, 12 in Fujian province, 10 in Guangdong province, 5 in Yunnan province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 5 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 3 in Guangdong province and 2 in Fujian province; 349 indigenous cases, 164 in Sichuan province, 45 in Tibet autonomous region, 36 in Hainan province, 25 in Guangdong province, 19 in Tianjin municipality, 13 in Heilongjiang province, 9 in Qinghai province, 7 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 7 in Chongqing municipality, 5 in Liaoning province, 5 in Henan province, 4 in Shaanxi province, 3 in Shanxi province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Hubei province, 1 in Gansu province and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, including 59 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 22 in Hainan province, 21 in Sichuan province, 5 in Qinghai province, 4 in Tibet autonomous region, 3 in Henan province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Zhejiang province), no deaths, and 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai municipality).

On Aug 30, 540 patients were released from hospital after being cured (52 imported cases; 488 indigenous cases, 407 in Hainan province, 16 in Fujian province, 11 in Shaanxi province, 10 in Tibet autonomous region, 9 in Guangdong province, 8 in Zhejiang province, 8 in Sichuan province, 6 in Chongqing municipality, 4 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 4 in Yunnan province, 2 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Jiangxi province and 1 in Guizhou province). 15,775 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Aug 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 22,428 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 21,927 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 501 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Aug 30, the National Health Commission had received reports of 243,081 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 231,520 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 6,335 confirmed cases (including 31 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 5,311,779 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 239,929 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 1,426 new asymptomatic cases (100 imported cases; 1,326 indigenous cases, 674 in Tibet autonomous region, 107 in Sichuan province, 84 in Qinghai province, 71 in Liaoning province, 69 in Heilongjiang province, 41 in Gansu province, 38 in Tianjin municipality, 37 in Hebei province, 33 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 29 in Hainan province, 27 in Jiangxi province, 27 in Hubei province, 26 in Henan province, 21 in Guangdong province, 16 in Shaanxi province, 7 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 5 in Chongqing municipality, 4 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 4 in Shandong province, 3 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Anhui province and 1 in Hunan province).

On Aug 30, 1,040 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (96 imported cases; 944 indigenous cases, 585 in Hainan province, 191 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 40 in Tibet autonomous region, 22 in Jiangxi province, 17 in Zhejiang province, 15 in Shaanxi province, 10 in Chongqing municipality, 10 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 7 in Hubei province, 6 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 5 in Hebei province, 4 in Guangdong province, 4 in Gansu province, 4 in Qinghai province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Jiangsu province, 3 in Henan province, 2 in Shanxi province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Heilongjiang province, 2 in Yunnan province, 2 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Sichuan province). 64 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 5 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 30, 22,787 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 735 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 30, 5,658,534 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 384,292 in Hong Kong (9,681 had died and 74,418 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 793 in Macao (6 had died and 785 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 5,273,449 in Taiwan (9,893 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
