The Suzhou New District Chinese Painting Institute in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, is displaying the works of Wumen Painting School artist Shen Jianlin.
The exhibition presents 48 of Shen's traditional Chinese paintings and will run until Sept 3.
Shen is a member of the Chinese Artists Association and a director of the Suzhou Artists Association. Over the past decade, Shen has not only sought inspiration in Suzhou, but also traveled around China.
Shen's landscape paintings mainly depict North China's mountains or South China's gardens and water towns.
Wumen is hailed as one of the most influential painting schools in Chinese art history and Wumen artists are especially talented at landscape painting. Leading artists include the "four great painters of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644)" – Shen Zhou, Tang Yin, Wen Zhengming and Qiu Ying, whose styles influenced several succeeding artists.
