Public security organs in China have improved their efforts in various sectors to keep the public safe over the past two years, according to the Ministry of Public Security.
They have continued to deepen efforts to construct a national public security prevention and control system and have promoted the construction of 256,000 smart security communities focusing on schools and hospitals during the period, said Zhang Ming, spokeswoman for the ministry, at a news conference on Friday.
The police have investigated and rectified 165,000 campus safety hazards, and the number of medical-related criminal cases has declined each year, she said.
They have also handling reported cases better. From August 2020 to July this year, police stations across the country handled 250 million calls. Of those calls during that period, officers dealt with 32.5 million criminal cases, while 67.6 million were calls for help.
Zhang said the ministry has also deepened the reform of public security administration services. It introduced 10 measures to facilitate the introduction of foreign talent, and 16 to serve the development of shipping enterprises.
The ministry has recently formulated and issued key measures to boost socioeconomic development, including promoting cross-provincial applications for identity cards for the first time to make life more convenient for residents, broadening the application of electronic certificates in the field of government services to help companies and individuals save money, and optimizing the vehicle inspection system to lower the cost of the work.
