A publicity and education campaign on disability prevention knowledge took place on the sixth National Disability Prevention Day, which fell on Aug 25.
The nationwide campaign was announced in a circular released by the China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF) and 16 other departments in early August.
The circular requires relevant authorities across the country should take the day as an opportunity to promote and popularize knowledge on disability prevention, the prevention and control of disabilities caused by development disorders, illnesses and injuries, and disability rehabilitation.
Moreover, the latest disability prevention knowledge (2022 version), which was a revision of the 2017 version was released by the CDPF in cooperation with other departments. The 2022 version includes 30 pieces of information, covering the prevention and control of birth defects and disabilities caused by development disorders, illnesses and injuries and rehabilitation services.
In June 2017, the State Council approved Aug 25 as the annual Disability Prevention Day. Over the past five years, publicity and education activities have been held each year across the country. Diversified activities have been carried out to promote disability prevention knowledge in families, communities, and schools. The awareness of disability prevention across the whole of society has been significantly improved.
