Aug 25: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 390 new cases of confirmed infections (45 imported cases, 16 in Guangdong province, 10 in Fujian province, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Heilongjiang province and 1 in Shandong province, including 4 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 3 in Guangdong province and 1 in Tianjin municipality; 345 indigenous cases, 217 in Hainan province, 37 in Tibet autonomous region, 27 in Chongqing municipality, 16 in Shaanxi province, 15 in Sichuan province, 13 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 4 in Guangdong province, 3 in Shanxi province, 3 in Qinghai province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Henan province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Hubei province and 1 in Yunnan province, including 133 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 125 in Hainan province, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Qinghai province and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Aug 24, 712 patients were released from hospital after being cured (73 imported cases; 639 indigenous cases, 568 in Hainan province, 17 in Tibet autonomous region, 14 in Guangdong province, 8 in Jiangxi province, 6 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 4 in Fujian province, 4 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 3 in Sichuan province, 3 in Shaanxi province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Hubei province, 1 in Guizhou province, 1 in Yunnan province and 1 in Gansu province). 29,252 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 3.

As of 24:00 on Aug 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 22,153 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 21,521 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 632 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 24, the National Health Commission had received reports of 241,036 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 228,046 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 7,764 confirmed cases (including 40 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 5,142,166 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 201,575 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 1,369 new asymptomatic cases (80 imported cases; 1,289 indigenous cases, 521 in Tibet autonomous region, 309 in Hainan province, 154 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 114 in Qinghai province, 51 in Shaanxi province, 25 in Jiangxi province, 23 in Henan province, 23 in Sichuan province, 16 in Chongqing municipality, 12 in Hubei province, 8 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 7 in Liaoning province, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Hunan province, 2 in Hebei province, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Yunnan province, 2 in Gansu province, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Guizhou province).

On Aug 24, 1,206 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (85 imported cases; 1,121 indigenous cases, 695 in Hainan province, 251 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 44 in Jiangxi province, 44 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 43 in Tibet autonomous region, 7 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 5 in Hubei province, 5 in Gansu province, 5 in Qinghai province, 4 in Hebei province, 4 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Henan province, 2 in Sichuan province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Shaanxi province). 137 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 4 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 24, 22,172 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 702 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 24, 5,492,464 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 376,619 in Hong Kong (9,634 had died and 72,675 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 793 in Macao (6 had died and 785 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 5,115,052 in Taiwan (9,691 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
