Jiangbulake Scenic Area is located in the eastern parts of Tianshan Mountain. It covers 48 square kilometers and has an average altitude of between 1,700 and 2200 meters. Meaning "the source of holy water" in Kazakh, Jiangbulak generally refers to the glaciers and mountains in the eastern section of the Tianshan Mountains in Qitai county. Streams are seen in almost every valley in the scenic area, the water being so pure and premium that it can be drunk directly. Ten rivers are sourced from here and play an important role in nourishing people and livestock in the county.
The rich tourism resources of Jiangbulake are stunningly integrated with snow mountains, pinewoods, wetlands, grasslands, alpine canyons and mountain valleys. These landscapes offer good spatial combinations and high capacity that are suitable for organizing various tourism activities.
Thanks to limited impact of human activities, Jiangbulake is still in a relatively primitive state and home to a variety of rare wildlife species. There are 68 families of woody and herbaceous plants in more than 1,000 species, including precious medicinal materials like snow lotuses, licorices, codonopsis and fritillaria. Many cherished birds and mammals inhabit the region, such as golden pheasants, woodpeckers, owls, falcons, forest musk deer, badgers and martes foinas. It is also rich in mineral resources from limestones and gray chrome rock to placer gold and other valuable minerals.
Jiangbulake Scenic Area is also rich in culture. In addition to the local Kazak folk culture, the legends and folk myths of historical heritage sites never fail to charm visitors from far and wide.
