The water quality of State-controlled water sections of Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has ranked first among municipal cities in China in 2020, 2021, and the first half of 2022, officials of the Liuzhou water resources bureau announced on Aug 17.
A strict water resource management mechanism has been applied in Liuzhou and three "red lines" were put forward, namely the development and utilization of water resources, control of water consumption efficiency, as well as the assimilative capacity of water function areas.
As Guangxi's biggest industrial city, Liuzhou ranked first in the region in terms of its water consumption efficiency. Its water consumption of each 10,000 yuan ($1,474) in the regional GDP and in industrial added value in 2021 stood at 55.2 cubic meters and 15.3 cu m respectively, both the lowest in Guangxi.
In the first six months of 2022, Liuzhou finished dividing riverside management areas of 19,333 kilometers along 3,051 rivers to river chiefs at different levels.
