On Aug 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 682 new cases of confirmed infections (68 imported cases, 17 in Fujian province, 11 in Tianjin municipality, 7 in Beijing municipality, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Guangdong province, 7 in Yunnan province, 4 in Heilongjiang province, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Shandong province, 1 in Jilin province, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Sichuan province, including 10 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 5 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Sichuan province; 614 indigenous cases, 496 in Hainan province, 36 in Shaanxi province, 19 in Tibet autonomous region, 14 in Zhejiang province, 10 in Fujian province, 9 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 6 in Guangdong province, 5 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 4 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Sichuan province, 3 in Henan province, 3 in Qinghai province, 1 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Hunan province, 1 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Guizhou province and 1 in Yunnan province, including 32 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 10 in Hainan province, 6 in Zhejiang province, 5 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Sichuan province, 2 in Tibet autonomous region, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Shaanxi province and 1 in Qinghai province), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Aug 17, 114 patients were released from hospital after being cured (56 imported cases; 58 indigenous cases, 15 in Hainan province, 12 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 9 in Guangdong province, 8 in Zhejiang province, 6 in Chongqing municipality, 2 in Henan province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Hebei province and 1 in Gansu province). 10,118 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 4.

As of 24:00 on Aug 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 21,780 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 21,064 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 716 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 17, the National Health Commission had received reports of 237,580 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 224,942 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 7,412 confirmed cases (including 22 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 4,983,945 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 236,538 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 2,888 new asymptomatic cases (78 imported cases; 2,810 indigenous cases, 1,522 in Hainan province, 870 in Tibet autonomous region, 224 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 57 in Qinghai province, 36 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 29 in Shaanxi province, 13 in Zhejiang province, 12 in Jiangxi province, 8 in Henan province, 6 in Hebei province, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Shandong province, 3 in Chongqing municipality, 3 in Yunnan province, 3 in Gansu province, 3 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Guizhou province).

On Aug 17, 297 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (73 imported cases; 224 indigenous cases, 65 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 61 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 21 in Henan province, 14 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 13 in Shandong province, 10 in Zhejiang province, 8 in Gansu province, 5 in Hainan province, 5 in Tibet autonomous region, 4 in Jiangxi province, 4 in Hubei province, 3 in Hebei province, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Jilin province, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Anhui province and 1 in Fujian province). 42 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 10 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 17, 17,175 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 745 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 17, 5,321,934 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 368,571 in Hong Kong (9,584 had died and 70,870 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 793 in Macao (6 had died and 785 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 4,952,570 in Taiwan (9,506 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
