Changan Ford started presales of the all-new Explorer on Wednesday. The joint enterprise provides four variants of the SUV at prices starting from 309,800 yuan ($45,965).
The large SUV has a class-leading 3,025-millimeter wheelbase, measures 5,063 mm in length and 1,778 mm in height. Six- and seven-seat interior layouts are available.
In the cockpit, the all-new Explorer is equipped with a central 27-inch high-definition dashboard screen to display navigation, entertainment and other information. In front of the driver are a 12.3-inch full-color digital liquid crystal display instrument binnacle and a 17-inch HD full-color head-up projection, which shows the speed, navigation, driving assistance and fuel-tank volume.
The new model also features the new generation of SYNC 2.0 infotainment system.
Equipped with Ford's level 2 Co-Pilot 360 intelligent driving assistance system and with 20 lidars and cameras, the SUV can achieve 18 advanced driving-assist functions.
Using the fourth-generation 2.3T EcoBoost engine, the Explorer has a maximum output of 203 kilowatts and a top torque of 425 Newton meters. The SUV can accelerate from 0-100 kilometers per hour in 7.6 seconds.
Over the past 32 years, Ford has sold more than 8 million Explorers worldwide.
