Aug 14: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 13, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 684 new cases of confirmed infections (61 imported cases, 15 in Beijing municipality, 13 in Guangdong province, 11 in Fujian province, 8 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Shandong province, 4 in Sichuan province, 3 in Shaanxi province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and 1 in Jilin province, including 4 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Guangdong province, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 623 indigenous cases, 494 in Hainan province, 59 in Tibet autonomous region, 24 in Zhejiang province, 14 in Guangdong province, 10 in Jiangxi province, 6 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 4 in Sichuan province, 3 in Fujian province, 3 in Chongqing municipality, 2 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 1 in Hubei province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Shaanxi province and 1 in Qinghai province, including 31 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 21 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Hainan province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Chongqing municipality), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Aug 13, 120 patients were released from hospital after being cured (57 imported cases; 63 indigenous cases, 25 in Sichuan province, 11 in Hainan province, 8 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 8 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 6 in Gansu province, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Guangdong province and 1 in Fujian province). 9,685 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained the same.

As of 24:00 on Aug 13, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 21,502 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 20,850 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 652 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 13, the National Health Commission had received reports of 234,901 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 224,443 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 5,232 confirmed cases (including 8 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 4,878,193 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 173,999 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 13, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 1,920 new asymptomatic cases (76 imported cases; 1,844 indigenous cases, 846 in Hainan province, 443 in Tibet autonomous region, 396 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 54 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 42 in Zhejiang province, 39 in Jiangxi province, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Qinghai province, 3 in Hebei province, 3 in Hubei province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Guangdong province, 1 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Gansu province).

On Aug 13, 230 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (65 imported cases; 165 indigenous cases, 39 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 33 in Gansu province, 28 in Shandong province, 17 in Zhejiang province, 14 in Henan province, 10 in Sichuan province, 7 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 5 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Anhui province, 2 in Yunnan province, 2 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Guangdong province, 1 in Hainan province and 1 in Tibet autonomous region). 35 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 4 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 13, 9,719 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 716 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 13, 5,233,718 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 365,161 in Hong Kong (9,562 had died and 70,148 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 791 in Macao (6 had died and 785 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 4,867,766 in Taiwan (9,413 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
