Aug 13: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 12, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 704 new cases of confirmed infections (58 imported cases, 13 in Guangdong province, 9 in Beijing municipality, 8 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Fujian province, 7 in Shandong province, 6 in Sichuan province, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Heilongjiang province and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 11 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 4 in Shandong province, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and 2 in Sichuan province; 646 indigenous cases, 594 in Hainan province, 12 in Guangdong province, 9 in Jiangxi province, 7 in Zhejiang province, 5 in Sichuan province, 4 in Chongqing municipality, 4 in Tibet autonomous region, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Qinghai province, 2 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 16 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 5 in Zhejiang province, 5 in Hainan province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Chongqing municipality), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Aug 12, 98 patients were released from hospital after being cured (46 imported cases; 52 indigenous cases, 19 in Sichuan province, 17 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 6 in Gansu province, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Hainan province, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps). 12,220 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Aug 12, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 21,441 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 20,793 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 648 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 12, the National Health Commission had received reports of 234,217 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 224,323 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 4,668 confirmed cases (including 8 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 4,850,458 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 156,356 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 12, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 1,440 new asymptomatic cases (81 imported cases; 1,359 indigenous cases, 832 in Hainan province, 334 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 50 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 37 in Zhejiang province, 28 in Jiangxi province, 28 in Tibet autonomous region, 11 in Guangdong province, 9 in Hubei province, 7 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 5 in Gansu province, 4 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Chongqing municipality, 3 in Sichuan province, 3 in Qinghai province, 1 in Anhui province and 1 in Shaanxi province).

On Aug 12, 437 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (75 imported cases; 362 indigenous cases, 172 in Gansu province, 73 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 45 in Shandong province, 18 in Henan province, 18 in Sichuan province, 11 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 6 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Anhui province, 3 in Guangdong province, 3 in Yunnan province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Hainan province, 2 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Jilin province, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Hunan province). 27 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 11 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 12, 8,064 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 709 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 12, 5,211,691 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 364,399 in Hong Kong (9,559 had died and 69,952 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 791 in Macao (6 had died and 785 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 4,846,501 in Taiwan (9,373 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
