Zhuhai, Zunyi seek more business ties with Latin America

Eleven companies from Zhuhai and Guizhou's Zunyi City focusing on electronics, auto parts, and tea conducted more than 30 one-on-one online exchanges with 21 enterprises from Latin American countries including Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico on Aug 10.

It was part of the Zhuhai, Zunyi-Latin American and Caribbean Countries Economic Trade Exchange and Matchmaking Activities that took place both online and offline, with Zunyi participating for the first time. Qian Jing of the Zunyi Bureau of Commerce described the city's geographical advantages and noted that the city is looking forward to cooperating with Latin American countries.

Fan Xinlin, vice chairman of the Guangdong Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said that Latin American countries are important trade partners and investment destinations for Guangdong, while Zhuhai is a promising frontier for Guangdong-Latin America economic and trade exchange.

He expressed hope that the event will help promote communication and cooperation between Guangdong and Latin American countries to achieve mutual cooperation and development at a higher level. 

Priority is being given to enhancing exchange and cooperation with Latin American countries, according to Liang Peizhong, chairman of the Zhuhai Sub-Council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

Liang said that the Zhuhai Sub-Council will organize online and on-site matchmaking and promotional events and help those in Latin American business circles visit Zhuhai. Comprehensive service platforms will also be established for Zhuhai and Latin American enterprises. 

Moreover, Liang signed a memorandum of understanding on behalf of the Zhuhai Sub-Council with the China Chamber in Latin American and Caribbean areas.

A cooperation agreement had been signed in April 2021 between Guangdong and Guizhou provinces as part of a program of assistance from eastern to western China. Zhuhai has since been paired with Zunyi to help eight of its counties shake off poverty.
