Aug 12: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 11, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 704 new cases of confirmed infections (56 imported cases, 19 in Guangdong province, 8 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Sichuan province, 6 in Fujian province, 4 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Shandong province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Jilin province, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 18 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 7 in Guangdong province, 5 in Sichuan province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Shandong province, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Zhejiang province; 648 indigenous cases, 595 in Hainan province, 22 in Guangdong province, 9 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 7 in Tibet autonomous region, 5 in Fujian province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Henan province, 1 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Sichuan province, 1 in Guizhou province, 1 in Yunnan province, 1 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Gansu province and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, including 11 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 7 in Guangdong province, 1 in Hainan province, 1 in Sichuan province, 1 in Guizhou province and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Aug 11, 113 patients were released from hospital after being cured (53 imported cases; 60 indigenous cases, 23 in Gansu province, 20 in Sichuan province, 4 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 4 in Shandong province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Anhui province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Guangdong province). 9,066 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained the same.

As of 24:00 on Aug 11, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 21,383 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 20,747 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 636 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 11, the National Health Commission had received reports of 233,513 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 224,225 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 4,062 confirmed cases (including 7 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 4,830,513 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 148,648 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 11, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 1,305 new asymptomatic cases (102 imported cases; 1,203 indigenous cases, 614 in Hainan province, 410 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 60 in Zhejiang province, 43 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 20 in Tibet autonomous region, 14 in Guangdong province, 11 in Jiangxi province, 7 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 6 in Hubei province, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Hunan province, 1 in Henan province, 1 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Shaanxi province).

On Aug 11, 451 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (62 imported cases; 389 indigenous cases, 222 in Gansu province, 52 in Shandong province, 31 in Henan province, 29 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 13 in Sichuan province, 8 in Shanghai municipality, 8 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 8 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 5 in Jilin province, 4 in Guangdong province, 4 in Yunnan province, 2 in Hainan province, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Hubei province and 1 in Chongqing municipality). 29 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 18 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 11, 7,088 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 714 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 11, 5,189,010 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 363,669 in Hong Kong (9,555 had died and 69,755 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 791 in Macao (6 had died and 782 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 4,824,550 in Taiwan (9,342 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
