First wind turbine of power project hoisted in Alshaa

Recently, with the precise docking of wind turbine impeller and engine room, the first wind turbine of the 1.6 million kW wind power project of Alshaa Renewable Energy Base was hoisted, marking the first step for Alshaa League to build a 10 million kW wind power base.

The project is the first UHV clean power delivery project in Alshaa League, and also the first batch of large-scale wind power base projects in desert and Gobi areas in China. The generated electricity will be transmitted to Shandong Power Grid for consumption through the DC UHV channel from Shanghaimiao Town in Ordos to Shandong.

According to preliminary calculation, after the wind power base is put into operation, the annual on-grid power consumption is about 4.3 billion kWh, and power sales are about 1.2 billion yuan. Compared with conventional coal-fired thermal power units with the same power generation capacity, it can save about 1.57 million tons of standard coal and reduce 3.26 million tons of carbon dioxide every year.

After the completion of the project, new generation information technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence will be fully utilized to realize the efficient, intelligent and intensive power station management mode.

The project is divided into four parts, with four State-owned enterprises undertaking their construction. . Among them, the 400,000 kW wind power project undertaken by Huaneng Alshaa League New Energy Power Generation Co Ltd has started construction on Aug  26 last year. The selected wind turbine tower in the project has a height of 100 meters and an impeller diameter of 165 meters, with a total investment of 2.672 billion yuan ($417 million).

This year, Alshaa League will accelerate the completion of three key projects, namely, the 1.6 million kw wind power base, the Boyuan trona project, and the Humeng new energy materials industrial base. It will promote the high-end, intelligent and green development of traditional industries such as coal chemical industry, salt chemical industry and fine chemical industry. It will vigorously develop clean energy industries such as wind power and photovoltaics, and strive to build a 10 million kilowatt renewable energy base within two years.
