Aug 8: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 380 new cases of confirmed infections (56 imported cases, 18 in Guangdong province, 9 in Fujian province, 9 in Sichuan province, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Heilongjiang province and 1 in Yunnan province, including 6 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Fujian province; 324 indigenous cases, 259 in Hainan province, 37 in Guangdong province, 12 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 4 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Hunan province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Hebei province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Hubei province, 1 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Sichuan province, including 42 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 33 in Hainan province, 4 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Hunan province and 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Aug 7, 119 patients were released from hospital after being cured (45 imported cases; 74 indigenous cases, 28 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 24 in Gansu province, 8 in Guangdong province, 7 in Chongqing municipality, 4 in Sichuan province, 2 in Anhui province and 1 in Henan province). 9,056 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained the same.

As of 24:00 on Aug 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 21,128 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 20,520 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 608 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 7, the National Health Commission had received reports of 231,266 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 223,770 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,270 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 4,736,593 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 98,037 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 560 new asymptomatic cases (77 imported cases; 483 indigenous cases, 245 in Hainan province, 82 in Zhejiang province, 69 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 25 in Henan province, 13 in Hebei province, 11 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 10 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 9 in Hubei province, 6 in Guangdong province, 3 in Shandong province, 3 in Chongqing municipality, 3 in Gansu province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and 2 in Jilin province).

On Aug 7, 486 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (62 imported cases; 424 indigenous cases, 263 in Gansu province, 113 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 8 in Henan province, 7 in Shandong province, 7 in Sichuan province, 5 in Tianjin municipality, 5 in Anhui province, 4 in Guangdong province, 4 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Jilin province, 2 in Yunnan province and 1 in Chongqing municipality). 48 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 6 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 7, 5,067 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 654 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 7, 5,100,425 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 360,773 in Hong Kong (9,540 had died and 69,018 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 791 in Macao (6 had died and 777 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 4,738,861 in Taiwan (9,229 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
