Aug 6: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 361 new cases of confirmed infections (51 imported cases, 11 in Fujian province, 11 in Guangdong province, 8 in Shanghai municipality, 6 in Yunnan province, 5 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Sichuan province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Hunan province, including 4 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Hunan province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Sichuan province; 310 indigenous cases, 262 in Hainan province, 22 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 11 in Guangdong province, 7 in Zhejiang province, 4 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Sichuan province, including 17 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 7 in Zhejiang province, 7 in Hainan province, 2 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Aug 5, 212 patients were released from hospital after being cured (63 imported cases; 149 indigenous cases, 90 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 28 in Gansu province, 18 in Guangdong province, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Sichuan province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Chongqing municipality). 14,856 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained the same.

As of 24:00 on Aug 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 21,019 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 20,420 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 599 confirmed cases (1 case in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 5, the National Health Commission had received reports of 230,496 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 223,498 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,772 confirmed cases (1 case in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 4,711,419 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 96,867 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 343 new asymptomatic cases (68 imported cases; 275 indigenous cases, 95 in Zhejiang province, 46 in Hainan province, 42 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 28 in Henan province, 27 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 8 in Hebei province, 7 in Shandong province, 6 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 4 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Jilin province, 2 in Anhui province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 2 in Gansu province, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Guizhou province).

On Aug 5, 688 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (49 imported cases; 639 indigenous cases, 415 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 165 in Gansu province, 16 in Guangdong province, 12 in Shanghai municipality, 11 in Henan province, 7 in Anhui province, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Jiangxi province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Yunnan province). 21 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 4 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 5, 5,238 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 647 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 5, 5,057,130 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 359,370 in Hong Kong (9,531 had died and 68,618 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 791 in Macao (6 had died and 777 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 4,696,969 in Taiwan (9,136 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
