On Aug 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 222 new cases of confirmed infections (60 imported cases, 18 in Fujian province, 14 in Guangdong province, 6 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Sichuan province, 4 in Shaanxi province, 3 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Shandong province, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Yunnan province, including 11 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 6 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Shandong province; 162 indigenous cases, 127 in Hainan province, 16 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 12 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Chongqing municipality, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Sichuan province, including 23 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 13 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 9 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Hainan province), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Aug 4, 147 patients were released from hospital after being cured (37 imported cases; 110 indigenous cases, 58 in Gansu province, 26 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 9 in Guangdong province, 4 in Henan province, 4 in Sichuan province, 3 in Anhui province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Hainan province and 1 in Yunnan province). 18,129 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Aug 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 20,968 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 20,357 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 611 confirmed cases (1 case in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 4, the National Health Commission had received reports of 230,135 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 223,286 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,623 confirmed cases (1 case in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 4,701,045 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 101,384 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 317 new asymptomatic cases (69 imported cases; 248 indigenous cases, 54 in Zhejiang province, 42 in Henan province, 35 in Hainan province, 34 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 27 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 16 in Shandong province, 14 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 10 in Gansu province, 9 in Chongqing municipality, 2 in Hebei province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Guizhou province and 1 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region).

On Aug 4, 582 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (61 imported cases; 521 indigenous cases, 263 in Gansu province, 165 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 24 in Anhui province, 20 in Henan province, 16 in Shanghai municipality, 12 in Guangdong province, 7 in Yunnan province, 5 in Jiangxi province, 3 in Jilin province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Hunan province). 34 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 11 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 4, 5,604 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 632 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 4, 5,034,647 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 358,728 in Hong Kong (9,527 had died and 68,399 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 791 in Macao (6 had died and 777 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 4,675,128 in Taiwan (9,082 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
