Nearly 200 culinary elites from 20 teams at home and abroad competed at a recent culinary event in Dalian of Liaoning province, demonstrating their understanding of Chinese food culture with their cooking skills while celebrating Chinese flavors.
They attended the 2019 Luhua Cup Chinese Cuisine World Championship, which kicked off Wednesday at the Dalian Jinshitan National Tourist Resort in Liaoning province.
"The championship is the only international Chinese cuisine cooking technique competition accredited by the World Association of Chefs’ Societies," said Jiang Junxian, president of China Cuisine Association, the organizer.
"It aims to display Chinese-style food with international specifications and standards as well as build it into an international brand," he said.

Rick Stephen, the continental director for Asia for the WACS, was invited as the general adviser, and more than 20 judges from China, Australia, the United States, Mexico, South Korea, Nepal, Japan and other countries with international certification sat on the judging panel.
For the first time, the event featured both team and individual competitions. Participants were required to complete prescribed dishes within a specified time. The dishes had to be creative and nutritious, and also highlight international standards and Chinese characteristics in taste, texture, appearance and other aspects.

The competition took place at the food plaza along the beach in Jinshitan, where the 2019 Dalian International Beach Culture Festival is still ongoing.
"The beautiful natural environment and abundant fresh seafood at the resort complement the exquisite food of the competition," said Liu Jinhong, director of the administrative committee of the Dalian Jinshitan National Tourist Resort.
According to her, the competition plays an important role in shaping local food and beverage brands while accelerating the development of the food service economy in Jinshitan and Dalian Jinpu New Area.
