July 29: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 109 new cases of confirmed infections (49 imported cases, 14 in Fujian province, 11 in Guangdong province, 7 in Shandong province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Sichuan province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Henan province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Chongqing municipality, including 9 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 4 in Shandong province, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Sichuan province and 1 in Guangdong province; 60 indigenous cases, 21 in Gansu province, 16 in Sichuan province, 10 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 5 in Shandong province, 4 in Henan province, 3 in Guangdong province and 1 in Shanghai municipality, including 23 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 14 in Gansu province, 6 in Sichuan province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Henan province), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On July 28, 151 patients were released from hospital after being cured (41 imported cases; 110 indigenous cases, 47 in Gansu province, 29 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 12 in Guangdong province, 8 in Anhui province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Hainan province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Sichuan province). 12,844 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained the same.

As of 24:00 on July 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 20,582 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 20,052 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 530 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on July 28, the National Health Commission had received reports of 229,294 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 222,314 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,754 confirmed cases (25 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 4,625,656 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 131,862 were still under medical observation.

On July 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 455 new asymptomatic cases (65 imported cases; 390 indigenous cases, 121 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 112 in Gansu province, 93 in Shandong province, 29 in Sichuan province, 17 in Henan province, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Jiangxi province, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Anhui province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Yunnan province).

On July 28, 390 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (45 imported cases; 345 indigenous cases, 144 in Gansu province, 51 in Anhui province, 41 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 39 in Henan province, 20 in Shanghai municipality, 16 in Jiangsu province, 10 in Guangdong province, 9 in Jiangxi province, 6 in Shandong province, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Fujian province and 2 in Zhejiang province). 32 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 9 imported cases). As of 24:00 on July 28, 7,200 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 557 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 28, 4,876,732 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 353,578 in Hong Kong (9,493 had died and 67,265 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 789 in Macao (6 had died and 596 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 4,522,365 in Taiwan (8,776 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
