The 2022 (8th) China Overseas Returnees Entrepreneurship Competition kicked off in Suzhou New District, East China's Jiangsu province, on July 12, local media outlets reported.
The competition aims to improve services for returnees' entrepreneurship and innovation needs, support the commercialization of more high-end scientific and technological projects, and boost talent cultivation and enterprise development.
The event will focus on industries such as new-generation information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, and biopharmaceuticals. Registration for the event opened on July 12, and the final will be held in mid-late October.
A signing ceremony for the Jiangsu base of the China Overseas Returnees Entrepreneurship Competition was held on the same day. The base will develop an integrated service chain for global innovation and entrepreneurship talent, from them participating in the competition to settling down, developing and growing in the district.
The Yangtze River Delta (Jiangsu) region service center for the China Overseas Returnees Entrepreneurship Competition was also unveiled. It will work together with various innovation and entrepreneurship platforms in the Yangtze River Delta region, build an interconnected service system for overseas talent, and improve the living and working environment for returnee talent.
The China Overseas Returnees Entrepreneurship Competition is sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the Central Committee of the Zhigong Party. The competition has been held seven times and has attracted more than 300 returnee innovation parks, more than 100 colleges and universities, and 3,499 returnee teams from across the country. It has become an important platform for stimulating the entrepreneurial vitality of returnees and encouraging and supporting their development in China.
