The final of the 11th Jiangsu Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest for College Students was held at Nanjing Agricultural University in Nanjing, Jiangsu province on July 19.
Out of the 123,100 teams from 155 universities, four teams from Nanjing University, Nanjing Agricultural University, Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, and Southeast University qualified for the final. The projects undertaken by these teams are related to life science, special composite materials, environment protection, and rural vitalization.
Wu Qihui, vice-principal of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, said the projects all scored high in terms of innovation, market research and social responsibility.
The project by the team from Nanjing Agricultural University which involved setting up a Yangtze River fishery genetic resource center and developing a breeding technology to address the reproduction issue of migratory fishes in the Yangtze River, won the championship. Zheng Bingqing, the team leader, said her team has released 180 million rare fishes to the river as part of the project.
The project has since helped restore the environment of the Yangtze River, promote local economic development and improve the industrial structure, experts said at the contest.
