July 23: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 164 new cases of confirmed infections (36 imported cases, 9 in Fujian province, 8 in Guangdong province, 5 in Tianjin municipality, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Sichuan province, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 6 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 3 in Fujian province, 2 in Guangdong province and 1 in Tianjin municipality; 128 indigenous cases, 42 in Gansu province, 35 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 23 in Guangdong province, 11 in Sichuan province, 7 in Anhui province, 3 in Chongqing municipality, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Yunnan province, including 31 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 18 in Gansu province, 10 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Anhui province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Yunnan province), no deaths, and 3 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai municipality).

On July 22, 97 patients were released from hospital after being cured (32 imported cases; 65 indigenous cases, 14 in Gansu province, 10 in Guangdong province, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 8 in Anhui province, 6 in Jiangsu province, 5 in Shandong province, 5 in Henan province, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Hainan province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Jiangxi province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region). 19,731 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 6.

As of 24:00 on July 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 20,318 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 19,784 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 534 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on July 22, the National Health Commission had received reports of 228,519 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 221,542 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,751 confirmed cases (14 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 4,527,808 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 103,056 were still under medical observation.

On July 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 653 new asymptomatic cases (59 imported cases; 594 indigenous cases, 329 in Gansu province, 174 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 19 in Henan province, 16 in Shanghai municipality, 16 in Anhui province, 10 in Sichuan province, 9 in Tianjin municipality, 9 in Guangdong province, 7 in Yunnan province, 4 in Jiangxi province and 1 in Chongqing municipality).

On July 22, 314 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (37 imported cases; 277 indigenous cases, 57 in Jiangsu province, 48 in Anhui province, 44 in Shanghai municipality, 43 in Shandong province, 26 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 26 in Gansu province, 14 in Henan province, 10 in Fujian province, 4 in Jiangxi province, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Zhejiang province). 37 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 6 imported cases). As of 24:00 on July 22, 5,783 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 444 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 22, 4,736,370 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 349,298 in Hong Kong (9,454 had died and 66,336 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 783 in Macao (6 had died and 367 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 4,386,289 in Taiwan (8,478 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
