On July 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 200 new cases of confirmed infections (52 imported cases, 12 in Fujian province, 11 in Guangdong province, 6 in Yunnan province, 5 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 4 in Jiangxi province, 4 in Sichuan province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases in Guangdong province; 148 indigenous cases, 52 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 49 in Gansu province, 18 in Guangdong province, 16 in Sichuan province, 7 in Anhui province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Jiangxi province and 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, including 75 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 39 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 29 in Gansu province, 5 in Sichuan province, 1 in Anhui province and 1 in Guangdong province), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On July 20, 69 patients were released from hospital after being cured (23 imported cases; 46 indigenous cases, 13 in Guangdong province, 12 in Anhui province, 5 in Gansu province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Jiangsu province, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Henan province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Jiangxi province and 1 in Shandong province). 14,007 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 3.

As of 24:00 on July 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 20,213 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 19,703 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 510 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on July 20, the National Health Commission had received reports of 228,180 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 221,339 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,615 confirmed cases (4 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 4,498,609 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 106,088 were still under medical observation.

On July 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 743 new asymptomatic cases (65 imported cases; 678 indigenous cases, 314 in Gansu province, 135 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 77 in Anhui province, 76 in Henan province, 28 in Sichuan province, 14 in Tianjin municipality, 14 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Jilin province, 6 in Guangdong province, 5 in Jiangxi province and 2 in Chongqing municipality).

On July 20, 233 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (33 imported cases; 200 indigenous cases, 49 in Shandong province, 48 in Anhui province, 34 in Shanghai municipality, 27 in Jiangsu province, 14 in Henan province, 10 in Gansu province, 8 in Fujian province, 5 in Guangdong province, 2 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Hainan province). 78 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 3 imported cases). As of 24:00 on July 20, 5,043 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 418 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 20, 4,685,660 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 347,812 in Hong Kong (9,445 had died and 66,051 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 772 in Macao (5 had died and 304 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 4,337,076 in Taiwan (8,318 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
