BEIJING -- China's surveyed urban unemployment rate stood at 5.5 percent in June, down from 5.9 percent in May, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed Friday.
In the first half of the year, surveyed urban unemployment rate in the country was 5.7 percent, with a total of 6.54 million new urban jobs created during the period.
The surveyed unemployment rate among those aged between 25 and 59, the majority of the labor market, stood at 4.5 percent in June, according to the data.
The surveyed unemployment rate in 31 major cities came in at 5.8 percent in June, down 1.1 percentage points from May.
The surveyed urban unemployment rate is calculated based on the number of unemployed people who have participated in the employment survey in urban areas, including migrant workers in cities.
