July 19: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 237 new cases of confirmed infections (38 imported cases, 9 in Guangdong province, 4 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Fujian province, 4 in Yunnan province, 3 in Jiangxi province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Henan province, 1 in Hubei province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 6 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region; 199 indigenous cases, 134 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 32 in Gansu province, 12 in Sichuan province, 6 in Anhui province, 5 in Guangdong province, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Jiangxi province and 1 in Chongqing municipality, including 56 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 49 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 5 in Sichuan province, 1 in Anhui province and 1 in Guangdong province), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On July 18, 122 patients were released from hospital after being cured (43 imported cases; 79 indigenous cases, 27 in Anhui province, 24 in Guangdong province, 10 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Shandong province, 2 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Henan province, 1 in Hainan province and 1 in Shaanxi province). 21,420 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on July 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 20,119 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 19,649 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 470 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on July 18, the National Health Commission had received reports of 227,830 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 221,179 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,425 confirmed cases (1 case in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 4,467,676 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 101,489 were still under medical observation.

On July 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 539 new asymptomatic cases (39 imported cases; 500 indigenous cases, 199 in Gansu province, 109 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 73 in Anhui province, 45 in Henan province, 19 in Shanghai municipality, 13 in Jiangxi province, 12 in Sichuan province, 9 in Jilin province, 9 in Guangdong province, 7 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Shandong province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Zhejiang province).

On July 18, 248 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (42 imported cases; 206 indigenous cases, 73 in Anhui province, 47 in Jiangsu province, 33 in Shanghai municipality, 31 in Shandong province, 8 in Shaanxi province, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Jiangxi province, 2 in Henan province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Hubei province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Gansu province). 62 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 6 imported cases). As of 24:00 on July 18, 4,035 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 383 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 18, 4,630,094 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 346,561 in Hong Kong (9,440 had died and 65,794 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 756 in Macao (5 had died and 239 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 4,282,777 in Taiwan (8,224 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
