​HK, Macao, Taiwan students do summer internships in Jiangsu

The launch ceremony for a summer internship program that involves students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan was held in Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu province on July 8.

During the five-week program, 30 students from the three regions will choose from 86 positions offered by more than 30 industry leaders in the province. The positions will be in multiple sectors, including basic research, information technology, biomedicine, education, media, finance and legal services.

The students will also visit key State-level laboratories, high-tech industrial parks and cultural venues in Nanjing, as well as interact with scientists, local students, as well as directors of research institutes and tech companies, said Chen Zhiping, deputy director of the Jiangsu Youth Science and Technology Center, one of the organizers of the program.

Gan Haijin, a student at Nanjing University from Macao, will do his internship at the Jiangsu Provincial International Exchange Center during his summer vocation. The experience, he said, will help him obtain work skills and learn about the economic and social development in Jiangsu.

These summer internship programs that are promoted by the China Association for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education will also be carried out in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong and Sichuan.
