Nandan strives to build civilized city

In recent years, Hechi's Nandan county has striven to create a civilized city through efforts spanning infrastructure and public facilities construction, living environment and road transportation improvement, as well as public welfare and government affairs initiatives.

"Nandan has changed a lot. The streets are clean and tidy now, and its infrastructure is complete," said a person who has lived in Nandan for 50 years. In 2020, the county won the eighth round of "civilized city of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region".

In 2021, the ambient air quality rate in the urban area of Nandan county reached 98.1 percent, the water quality compliance rate of its centralized drinking water sources reached 100 percent, and its forest coverage rate reached 75.1 percent. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), the county has invested 11.5 billion yuan ($1.7 billion) in the field of people's livelihood, accounting for more than 80 percent of the county's public financial budget.

Nandan county has combined holistic tourism with industrial upgrading and transformation.

Danquan Liquor is the largest liquor manufacturer in Guangxi and is nationally renowned. With the liquor industry as the core and tourism as the link, Danquan  Liquor has implemented a tourism experiential marketing model. In 2021, the company achieved a total industrial output value of 2.177 billion yuan, while Danquan Liquor Culture Scenic Area received about 200,000 tourists from all over the country, generating 6.6 million yuan in tourism revenue.

Over the past 10 years, the urban area of Nandan county has expanded from 4.93 square kilometers to 8.41 sq km, while its urban construction and urban functions have also been continuously upgraded. Currently, a number of projects, such as the renovation and upgrading of the Tongjiang River, have been completed, while construction on other projects, including Danquan Characteristic Town, the new Nandan County People's Hospital, a new farmers' market, as well as a new bus station, is in full swing.
