July 18: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 167 new cases of confirmed infections (50 imported cases, 24 in Guangdong province, 5 in Sichuan province, 4 in Fujian province, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Shandong province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Gansu province, including 8 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 3 in Guangdong province, 3 in Sichuan province, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Hunan province; 117 indigenous cases, 59 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 28 in Gansu province, 9 in Sichuan province, 7 in Guangdong province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Anhui province, 3 in Jiangxi province, 3 in Henan province, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Hainan province, including 46 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 31 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 9 in Gansu province, 3 in Henan province and 3 in Guangdong province), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On July 17, 86 patients were released from hospital after being cured (41 imported cases; 45 indigenous cases, 19 in Anhui province, 7 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 5 in Beijing municipality, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Shandong province, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Hainan province). 28,678 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on July 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 20,081 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 19,606 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 475 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on July 17, the National Health Commission had received reports of 227,593 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 221,057 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,310 confirmed cases (2 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 4,455,682 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 110,936 were still under medical observation.

On July 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 431 new asymptomatic cases (38 imported cases; 393 indigenous cases, 183 in Gansu province, 53 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 52 in Anhui province, 39 in Henan province, 14 in Shanghai municipality, 14 in Sichuan province, 12 in Jiangxi province, 10 in Guangdong province, 8 in Jilin province, 4 in Shandong province, 2 in Liaoning province and 2 in Jiangsu province).

On July 17, 244 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (38 imported cases; 206 indigenous cases, 93 in Anhui province, 57 in Jiangsu province, 34 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Fujian province, 4 in Shandong province, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 3 in Shaanxi province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region). 54 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 8 imported cases). As of 24:00 on July 17, 3,806 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 392 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 17, 4,611,525 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 345,995 in Hong Kong (9,437 had died and 65,702 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 742 in Macao (5 had died and 228 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 4,264,788 in Taiwan (8,176 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
