BOTANICAL GARDEN
The South China National Botanical Garden was inaugurated in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, on Monday. As the second national botanical garden in China after Beijing, the new establishment has three research centers, one herbarium, two national-level field stations and three key laboratories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Home to more than 17,000 species of plants, the garden focuses on flora conservation and research, as well as the popularization of related knowledge among the public.
GRAND OPENING
The Renaissance Changzhou Wujin Hotel opened its doors last week. About 40 minutes by car from Changzhou Benniu International Airport, the new hotel in Changzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, has 339 lakeview rooms. JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Shanghai Pudong is offering the Weekend Kids Land program, which includes a variety of activities such as vegetable and fruit picking, little chef cooking classes, watching animated movies and interacting with the hotel mascot Griffin Family. The program is part of the Family by JW project, which aims to enable parents and their children to enjoy unforgettable family experiences at participating hotels.
CULINARY DELIGHT
The Ritz-Carlton Beijing is offering its mooncake gift box series in celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival, which is to fall in about two months. The packages of the gift boxes were designed by Chinese painter Chen Lu, who drew her inspiration from Song Dynasty (960-1279) floral-themed paintings. The gift boxes come in four types, with prices ranging from 268 to 668 yuan ($40 to $100).
