Seven universities from Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Fujian, including Donghua University and Xiamen University, recently signed a cooperation agreement with Minjiang University (MJU) in Fuzhou, Fujian province, aiming to help accelerate MJU's development in discipline construction, talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, and resources sharing.

Over the past one year, MJU has been stepping up to build itself into a high-level application-oriented university with its own characteristics to meet the needs of society.

MJU's participants with the project "high-quality ecological farming of large wild croakers boosts industrial revitalization" were awarded the gold prize at the Seventh China International College Students' "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in October 2021, which exemplified MJU's development goal of cultivating talents to meet society's needs.

To assist the province's industrial development needs and cultivate more skilled talents, MJU cooperated with leading companies and institutions to establish four industrial colleges specializing in modern textiles and garments, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, and new chemical materials in 2021.

Other application-oriented institutions in Fujian province have the same goal as MJU: which is to cultivate talents to meet societal needs.

To date, 31 undergraduate universities and 143 application-oriented majors across the province have piloted university construction transformation, which is expected to accelerate the province's industrial transformation and upgrading.
