Li Dakai and his son Li Qiang in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, have inherited the technique for making headwear used by traditional Chinese opera figures and divine statues. The headwear originates from that worn by ancient officials, and Li's family in Wuchuan of the city has carried on the technique for a century. Twelve main steps are involved in making such headwear and the family now applies some new materials and designs in the production.
