The National Center for Women and Children's Health of the China CDC held a seminar on the project of capacity building in maternal and child health both online and offline on Jun 28.
The seminar brought together about 40 renowned scholars and officials from the National Academy of Innovation Strategy, the National Health Commission, the China CDC and other agencies, as well as experts from Hunan and Yunnan provinces and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region who are engaged in promoting global health communication.
The project is led by the National Center for Women and Children's Health and aims to expand the international influence of China's progress in maternal and child health by establishing a global team of experts and building an international exchange platform.
Zhang Xueqing, Party secretary of the National Center for Women and Children's Health, acknowledged the importance of the project, which opens a new chapter of global maternal and child health work with larger scale and more strategic significance.
Zhang said that the project positioning needs to be identified and the framework should be formulated according to the experts' suggestions. With an open vision, the National Center for Women and Children's Health will fully mobilize and make good use of resources to achieve the objectives of the project, she added.
Zhang Wei, from the international cooperation department of the National Center for Women and Children's Health, introduced the background and overview of the project and put forward its long-term, medium-term and short-term plans.
Experts shared their views on the strategic positioning of the project, the construction of think tanks and the improvement of international project management capabilities, based on their past experiences in global health cooperation.
