Over 40 teachers and students of Guangxi Normal University and Sojo University in Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture gathered online on July 8 for an exchange event.
The event was held in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of friendly ties between Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Kumamoto and the 50th anniversary of the normalization of China-Japan diplomatic relations.
Jointly held by Guangxi Normal University and Sojo University, the event was aimed to enhance communication between students from the two universities.
Videos on the history, culture, art, tourism resources and distinctive delicacies of Guangxi and Kumamoto were displayed during the event. Students from Guangxi demonstrated their calligraphy and tie-dying skills, while those from Sojo University provided Japanese animation and fine arts.
Guangxi established its friendly ties relationship with Kumamoto in May 1982 and the two places have carried out cooperation in sectors spanning economy, trade, agriculture, culture, education, tourism, sports and health.
Guangxi Normal University and Sojo University inked a friendly cooperation relationship agreement in 2004 and more than 300 teachers and students have benefited from the academic exchange events held by the two universities.
It is expected that Guangxi and Kumamoto will further deepen communication and cooperation in various aspects in the future and strengthen friendships between younger generations.
