July 9: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 112 new cases of confirmed infections (45 imported cases, 12 in Guangdong province, 8 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 6 in Fujian province, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Jiangxi province, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Sichuan province, including 6 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Sichuan province; 67 indigenous cases, 25 in Anhui province, 11 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Jiangsu province, 6 in Guangdong province, 5 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 4 in Gansu province, 3 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Fujian province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 6 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 4 in Anhui province and 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region), no deaths, and 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai municipality).

On July 8, 44 patients were released from hospital after being cured (23 imported cases; 21 indigenous cases, 8 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Jiangsu province, 3 in Shandong province, 2 in Anhui province, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Guangdong province). 7,352 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on July 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 19,682 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 19,303 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 379 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on July 8, the National Health Commission had received reports of 226,509 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 220,345 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 938 confirmed cases (1 case in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 4,320,056 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 70,888 were still under medical observation.

On July 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 343 new asymptomatic cases (39 imported cases; 304 indigenous cases, 114 in Anhui province, 71 in Jiangsu province, 48 in Shanghai municipality, 45 in Shandong province, 18 in Fujian province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Gansu province).

On July 8, 68 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (39 imported cases; 29 indigenous cases, 6 in Tianjin municipality, 6 in Anhui province, 4 in Jilin province, 3 in Liaoning province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Sichuan province). 12 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 6 imported cases). As of 24:00 on July 8, 2,666 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 379 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 8, 4,367,534 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 340,901 in Hong Kong (9,410 had died and 64,707 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 566 in Macao (2 had died and 94 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 4,026,067 in Taiwan (7,459 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
